The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had a huge one page spread in this past Sunday, September 5th paper. First Section, page 15A.
All I have to say is WOW!!
View all the information at: wineanddinewisconsin.com
What is going to be presented? Lots!
To drink? Wine, craft beers, etc. to include:Mondavi winery, Dusted Valley , Boomtown Washington State, etc. To view the full list, please check out the website!
To Eat? Scores of restaurants which include: Coquette Cafe, Il Mito Enoteca, Jake’s Rest. , Kil@wat, etc. WAY TOO MANY TO LIST THEM ALL!!
And that’s NOT ALL!! There are going to be presentations by chefs, clinary experts, vintners, etc.
Chef Justin Aprahamian from Sanford is one of the chefs who is going to be there. I have personally viewed his cooking skills and he is great to see and watch!
Chef Robert Ash from Kil@wat, another great chef, from a great restaurant!! They have what they call the “Classic Big Boy Burger”.. It is AWESOME!!
Chef Andy Drobac from Brocach is also going to be there and again, another really good restaurant! Looking for a great Fish Fry? I would highly suggest checking it out there!!
Right now, per the newspaper article, advanced tickets are $39.00!!
I would definitely check this out and I would love any feedback! I, unfortunately, have to work that weekend and will not be able to attend. Would love to know what all of you think of it and hopefully next year I’ll be able to go!!
Have fun!

When was the last time you were to www.shorewest.com? Did you realize you can do so much more than look up listings?
One of the great tabs on the site is the Community Information tab on the left side (6th one down). I have a lot of customers emailing in wanting to know about a certain city/cities, and I always direct them to this part of shorewest.com
What can you find there? First, when you put in a County and city, it will pull up three choices: Community Info., School Info. and Area Businesses. (It also gives you the option of finding listings in a certain price point on this page.) So, you decide you would like to find out add’l information about the Community, so you click Community Info.
What happens next is amazing! You are given a great amount of information in one place! Community Characteristics, Community Summary, Crime Stats, Housing Inventory, Housing Stability, Population Demographics, Education Facts, ETC.
You are also given an opportunity to choose other links and request add’l information.
I’m not going to say anymore, except to go to www.shorewest.com and check out what is all available to review!
When you are there, please do not hesitate to contact me if you are indeed looking for relocation assistance. Another Tab is: “Relocation and Corporate Services” and I am there, just send me an email directly and I will be more than happy to help you!

Love to eat? Love to dine out? Not sure what restaurant to go to or what area of Milwaukee to visit? Not sure what the Third Ward has to offer, or what restaurants are good on Brady Street?
I have found out a fun, new way to try several different restaurants in one night and come away feeling full and satisfied! How can you do that you ask me?
VERY EASY: Visit www.milwaukeefoodtours.com
My son called and asked if we could do something together on Saturday night. I asked if he had a suggestion on what to do and he did not. I decided I would go on the internet and see what was happening around Milwaukee on Sept. 4th. When I Googled the information, one of the suggestions that came up was the website above. I reviewed the website and found this could be a really fun activity for my son and myself. During the year, my boyfriend and I have the opportunity to go to many restaurants in the Milwaukee and Chicago area, and I consider myself a HUGE FOODIE, but I can only afford to go to a restaurant once or twice a week and we do have our “favorites” we like to go back to. So, what a great way to try other places I haven’t been to! And, my son is a cook and loves food as well so it was a wonderful way to spend a mom and son night together
My son and I decided to go on the Third Ward tour and we had a blast. We were excited to see that we knew the tour guide and it was a lot of fun meeting new people. The owner of the company was along for the tour and we had the opportunity to speak to her several times during the evening. To hear from her directly about her past and what caused her and her husband to make the decision to start the business gave a bit more appreciation to the tour. It was a great mix of individuals from the area and those who were here for special occasions (anniversaries) or on a vacation.
We had the opportunity to try the following places on Saturday night:
The Soup & Stock Market at the Milwaukee Public Market. We had their corn chowder and it was very good. It was the perfect way to start the evening due to the cool weather.
We then walked to Rustico Pizzeria-Enoteca. My boyfriend and I had just tried Rustico a couple weeks ago and had enjoyed our meal, so it was nice to come back. We had tried the “Toscana” and it was good, but the “Margherita” pizza we ate on the tour was exceptional. It was not just one piece of pizza that was brought out for each one of us. NO, it was 3 whole, large pizzas and each individual had the opportunity to have at least 2-3 pieces. The pomodora sauce was tangy and seasoned well, the flavor of the crust was buttery and the texture light and crispy. There was just enough basil on the pizza to bring out a good scent and flavor, but not overpowering. The only disappointing part, for me, was the lack of mozzarella on the pizza and I would specifically ask for extra on my return visit.
Our next stop was at Hinterland. At this stop, the tour gave us the opportunity to try their beer. I do not drink beer so I passed. Everyone that tested the beer gave it a thumbs up. I do want to mention that it is a restaurant that I have wanted to try, but have not had the time to do so yet. Going inside and viewing the decor, atmosphere, and menu definitely makes me want to come back for dinner soon.
Tulip is a couple blocks away and we had the opportunity to speak to others on the tour while walking to this restaurant. This is another restaurant I had been to in the past and it was nice to be able to come back and try something else. We had the opportunity to try several of their appetizers. The Hummus is fantastic and would suggest anybody that likes Hummus to try this one. The pita bread that accompanies the spread is thin, light and delicious. We also were given grape leaves which on the menu are described as: “stuffed with rice, red currants and toasted pine nuts and fused together with dill, olive oil and cinnamon.” Note this appetizer is cold. We also passed around a dish of Sak Suka. What is that you ask? Per the menu it is a mixture of “eggplant, zucchini, onions, bell peppers, garlic and tomatoes toasted in olive oil and lemon juice.” It was very good and a great appetizer for anyone who is a vegetarian or likes their vegetables!
The next restaurant we visited is a NEW restaurant to the area and has only been open for a couple weeks. Chili Lili’s is open, airy and well lit. With autumn officially around the corner, what a great place to come and enjoy a warm dish of chili and corn bread! The corn bread is out of this world and we were given a dish of southwest chili. This is not a “little” bowl of chili, this is a meal. The owner came out and met with us and told us about their homemade pickled peppers(mmm..!!!) and their habenero chili (HOT!! Spicy hot!!). My son was intrigued and loves hot, so he purchased an order to go for himself and my boyfriend. I taste tested it before leaving the restaurant and it is excellent. Hot, but excellent! My boyfriend reheated some of it the following day and also gave it a big thumbs up and also loved the corn bread!
We ended our tour by stopping at a wine bar (do not know the name). We were supposed to go to Cuvee’s but apparently they had a previous engagement and we were diverted to the wine bar instead. We were provided the choice of a glass of wine or a natural soda and given a wonderful mint meltaway. We were also given a small packet of seasoning from The Spice House.
It was approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes and a great way to spend a nice Saturday night. Both my son and I went home having enjoyed a wonderful night together and experiencing some new tastes and sites.
Again, please visit the Milwaukee Food Tours website. Other areas to try for tours are: Brady Street and Riverwalk/Old World Third Street (there is one tour that appears available for the Village of Wauwatosa). This company also has seasonal tours which include a Bloody Mary Brunch and also a Ghouls and Spirits Adult Trick - or - Treat tour.
